The Vanaver Caravan of New Paltz, NY announces highlights of SummerDance on Tour to include a distinguished Indian Folk/Bollywood dancer on the faculty, to teach the public as well as to collaborate with Hudson Valley Flamenco Festival.


SummerDance on Tour is a three-week annual dance intensive comprised of two weeks of training and a third of performances at local venues, August 4 - 12, featuring live dance and music that incorporates eclectic styles such as: percussive, modern, Indian folk/Bollywood, ballet, and flamenco. 


This year, Founder and Director of the Heartbeators Dance Institute, Udaipur, India will join us as faculty and guest performer.  Choreographer Bharat Verma formed his dance troupe, Heartbeators in 2008; teaching and performing Bollywood, and a wide variety of Indian Folk styles. His philosophy is- “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about dancing in the rain.” In addition to SDoT performances, Bharat will hold Bollywood classes for the public at the Center for Symbolic Studies (475 River Road Extension, New Paltz, NY), July 23 - August 3, Mon.-Fri., 6PM–7PM, $15 per class.


SDoT welcomes Anna Librada Georges as faculty in addition to being the producer/creative director of the Hudson Valley Flamenco Festival (HVFF). Anna Librada Georges is a classically trained teaching and performing artist with international experience. She has taught percussive dance, flamenco, modern, world dance, and yoga in the US, Spain, Italy, and Japan. The Festival will conduct its arts education program in collaboration with SummerDance on TourHVFF will unite local artists and inspire audiences through public performances, arts education program, lectures and workshops.  A full-length performance of Cante, Baile, Toque on Saturday, August 11, 5:30PM, and a screening of the flamenco documentary La Chana, with guest performance by SummerDance on Tour! at Dance Film Sunday at the theatre on Sunday, August 12th.  


This summer, look for The Vanaver Caravan and SummerDance on Tour at the Rail Trail Café, the Ashokan Center, the Bon Oduri Festival, Towne Crier Café, Outpost BBQ, and the Rosendale Theatre! 

Bill and Livia Vanaver were the second artists to perform at the Towne Crier when it first opened; Celebrate summer with dinner at the café and a journey around the globe through live music and dance! 


SummerDance on Tour Faculty include:

Company Founders, Bill and Livia Vanaver, world-renowned Percussive dancer, choreographer, and creator of “Fighting For Change,” a women's Martial Arts program in India, Joel Hanna (Riverdance and Fire of Dance), and Nina Jirka. Nina studied at the legendary Russian Dance Academy in the USSR. Dancing as a soloist with the Moscow Festival Ballet, Perm Opera, Kremlin Ballet, and Stars of Bolshoi, Nina toured extensively through Europe and Asia, and is the founder of Tango New Paltz.
